It took less than week for me to break my self-imposed rule of not giving any money to Gary Bettman and his cronies until the NHL showed true contrition for taking advantage of its fans’ passion and good nature. Though it’s a substantial discount, $50 for a GameCenter Live subscription is still a half-assed gesture on the part of a league that’s forced its patrons to suffer through two decades of senseless greed and mismanagement. I shouldn’t have settled for anything less than a free season of GameCenter Live but, when you move across the country and your team appears to be getting its shit together, it’s tough to look the other way. Here’s hoping there are others out there who won’t cave so quickly and stay committed to teaching the NHL a lesson.
